Hi guys,I recently tried a mates nalu 10"6.5 GS even though the surf was small i totally enjoyed the experience, i'm now thinking about buying one but wonder is there any real difference between the GS and GT models other than obvious visual appearance, price, possible repairs concerning performance in the surf or on flat water.Your advice would be appreciated, thanks!

It's an awesome board.. I have the GT version but unless you really want the board bag I would recomend the cheaper GS version.. It's so much cheaper and surfs the same.. It also has a slight texture in the deck area that is less slippery than the full gloss on the timber GT version.. Plus any dings in the wood area would be a lot harder to make invisible.

I also have the GT model, they are super light which is great if you have to carry the board any distance and handy if you get caught inside, the guys i purchased my
board from put spray on grip on veneer deck free of charge.
This is my third timber veneer naish and find them very durable

Hi Bo'lero,

As far as performance and shape goes, the boards are identical.

The GT is a bit stronger due to the timber veneer, and loos nicer and stays cleaner due to the gloss finish.

If you are looking at getting a board bag anyway, go with the GT, if your looking to save some $ and dont need the bag. the GS is great.

Hey guys,
Just need to clear up a little thing here. The Nalu 10'6.5" GS (as with all the other Nalu GS boards) is a single fin model (does not have thruster fins like in the GT version). Other than that they are identical in shape. Then the differences just come down to look, weight, a small difference in the type of durability and the inclusions.

I'm loving the GS as a mal-style surf SUP and I don't miss the sidebites. But if money isn't an object, go the GT and then you have the option. Beside's maybe you want to crank it up a bit more than i do through the turns. But it's great as a single fin.
One thing I would suggest, is you check the position of the handle. Mine's a couple of cms further back than the balance point, even when i move the fin right to the front of the box. So u sort of have to pull up a bit with your front couple of fingers to offset it. WTF, Robbie? (not a HUGE deal unless you are carrying a fair distance)
The main things is, that s far as i can see in all the references to the 10'6.5 in this forum - everyone who has one loves it.
If you are anywhere near the sunny coast, go see the lads at Ocean Addicts. Top blokes to deal with, no BS, great service. And they are site sponsor so i guess it's ok for me to give em a wrap. I have no connection other than i've bought 3 boards there.

Interesting about the thrusters.. Didn't know that.

I tried mine as a single fin for a few surfs and I liked it better with the side fins in.. Also my handle's in the right spot..

Not sure about the thrusters - from what I know both GS and GT have same fin configuration, at least that is the case in the Mana range (albeit quality of fins is slightly different).

I've got an 11'4 GS & it's a single only. It surfs fantastic! I could imagine the 10'6.5 would be just as fun.

Just to clear this one up, the first production runs of the GS had thrusters as all 3 of mine do. NAISH then changed the GS to single fin a few months ago.
