Hi ,
Would like to get advice from the people on the forum.
I am 73kg, 6 month SUP (ok longboarder, good windsurfer), mostly surf beach breaks.

Currently on a star-board 9’8”x30 - would like to go smaller.
Am considering the Naish 9’3 or the 8’10 (not much else available where I live)
Question is , at my weight, will the difference between the 2 be significant? Am making a too big of a leap going for the 8’10?
Sorry but I can’t demo them.

Mate the 8'10 is definitley the board to go for. I had the 9'3 for a year then demo'd the 8'10 for a few days the 8'10 for me was just as stable but surfed so much better. I opted for the challenge and got the 8'0.

Thank you for your comments.
I am a bit worried about making the jump from the 9’8 starbaord to the naish 8’10.
I am pretty sure the 8’10 will be easy enough on glassy days, but I wonder if the 9’3 isn’t the smarter way to go as it will be easier to balance on the windy choppy days .
Guess I will just have to make up my mind and go with it.

yeah sorry 88 i forgot to mention that I'm the same weight as you and the difference in the 8'10 and 9'3 at your weight is about an extra 3hrs on the water, there really isn't that much difference for your weight but the 8'10 surfs so nice and still pics up the same waves as easy.

8'10 for sure, that board will rip in beach break conditions. If its really smooth water the 8'0 is a option as well

First day out on the 8’10 – head high and glassy
It's tippy for sure, but I can handle it , and a whole different experience on a wave
Just want to thank the people on the forum for the advice , am very happy

your gonna love it, the 8'10" is awesome. Once your comfortable and used to it's feel, start playing with fins. I've run a few different combo's, but for the me the best combo so far is Glass Flex MR-TX thrusters and a G-1000 trailer (in a conversion box). Board is faster and has more drive in the smaller stuff, and you can really let the tail out in hard turns. I've run Sunny Garcia's, TC red lines, M-7's & M-5's and they all offer such a different ride.

Have fun playing.
