Hi all, excuse my ignorance, but can anyone explain the difference, other than cost, between the AST Glide and the regular Glide with the wood tip? Presumably materials, but is there much perceivable performance difference? Cheers.

Not quite sure about the 12' or 17' glide.

I bought the 14' AST and I think you would need very fine instruments to measure any performance difference between the two. I think the AST is marginally heavier, but when I picked both up I couldn't notice the difference. The AST doesn't come with a cover, however you can buy a custom cover from Balin.

Hey PTWoody,
I've demo'd both boards and I found the 12' Glide to be slightly lighter as Oliver suggested and much faster through the water. Used my glide about 8 times now and can't get enough of it! Perfect board for flat water and building speed.
Just my thoughts!

Thanks Wizard, I just bit the bullet and bought the Glide to add to the 11'6 Woody. Taht'll get me started. Now for a SUP kaddy to get these big mothers down to the water.
