I am very new to this and am ready to purchase my first SUP, I have surfed for 30 years but don't intend to go in the waves too much. Have tried the big 10'2" NSP allrounder but am leaning towards the Naish Odysseus, either the 9'8" x 34" (200 litres) 12kg or the 11'2" x 32" (220 litres) 15kg. I am looking at these over the Nalus because of flatter rocker and also price. These are probably some of the biggest boards about before they become those ones that look like canoes?? Your collective advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for all your posts David, I have read many, and your vids are first class, you are a great advocate for Naish. You would probably be supprised how many of us watch them. Do you know much about the new 11' Odysseus?

Thanks.. After liking the original 9'8" Odysseus I was very excited about the new 11'2" Odysseus especially because it had a windsurfing option..(something the 9'8" should have).. Anyway.. After selling my old 12'6" I was in search for a lighter every day paddling board and the new 11'2" was top of my list.. But for some reason I changed my mind last minute and ordered the new shape 12'x30" touring board instead.. I'm looking forward to paddling the new 11'2" Odysseus but have not seen one yet.

Thanks again, I'll let you know which one of the two I get and how it goes. I probably can't go wrong with either.

Going on your username you could well be on Sydney's northern beaches! Go to WindSurfnSnow at collaroy and talk to the guys in there. They've got an 11' in there and I'm pretty sure the smaller one too! Plus I'm pretty sure there's the 9'8" for rental at Jamieson Park Paddle at narrabeen lakes. I bought the 9-8 for the missus when they first came out, great fun board!!!

I also purchased the 9 8 for my dad and its been super. When I am in sydney I also can recommend the guys in collaroy, I actually purchased mine at manly at the balmoral shop and got a great deal so no complaints about using them either.
This board is stable and a good board to paddle, so stable but also fun. One thing I might suggest is if you are paddling in a shallow area, organise to get a smaller fin as well as the stock one, it is large and this can mean a little walk out in a shallow lake.
Construction and workmanship seem to be better in the naish than my starboard, so I can see why they are so highly recommended.

In the lake the naish actually tracks much better than my 12 foot avanti so If you are worried about the 9, 8 tracking as straight as longer boards dont be.
