Can anyone out there tell me how much difference between the 2.
Im lookin for somethin to do some longer non surfin paddles.
Im thinkin the gun might be more versatile for some outer reef surfs without givin away too much paddling speed to the glide. Im not into serious downwinders either.
Im tryin to keep the quiver to 2 boards.Ordered the 9'5" mana to replace the 10'6" and now I need the distance board.
Thanks

For what you are asking for the gun is the way to go as it still surfs way better than the glide and is quite quick in its paddling it's got good rocker and looks like it would handle a good size wave.

IMO.. these two boards are like chalk and cheese.. They are soooo so different.

It sounds like the 12' Glide is what you're after if it's distance stuff that you want it for.

The 9'5" Mana and 12' Glide sounds like the perfect two board quiver to me..

But if he wants it for surfing the gun would out preform the glide hands down and still paddles longer distance's quite easy although it will not be as quick as the glide.

the 2 boards you are talking about are like chalk and cheeeeeeeze

the glide is not going to surf fantastic in larger reef waves but great as an allround touring machine with great paddling glide

the gun is ideal for charging those larger reef waves but wound lack in its touring/downwind conditions compared to the glide as it quite thin

if your not into the downwinder action and you want it to be able to surf i'm going with jacko on a candle lit dinner for 2 and saying go the gun

ps i want a gun myself i rode one in small waves and loved the rocker line and high proformance rails and most of all the mid section to pulled in pintail rail line...............a very sexy board

Yeah but the gun's a banana and would suck at distance stuff-much more suited to larger waves than any as

You need to decide if you want to ride waves or not with the longer board-the PSH 12' looks better suited to the dual role-whereas as DJ says the Naish gun are Glide and chalk and cheese and task specific boards.

very true loco

the psh is a great mix and probably would serve the purposes that you are after

it surfs amazing and being quite flat in its overall rocker paddles really fast

Thanks Fella's
Sounds like the PSH 12' may be a better option than the Naish's. We have some great waves here on the outer reefs but they are also fantastic to paddle on the calmer days with no swell, some really good corals etc.
Gero's not really suited to downwinders IMO. Can't quite see myself out there on one of our summer "sea breazes"
Anyone know who handles PSH in Perth. Im headin to the Phillipines in Nov for work and I can have a look at one then.
Thanks

Hey Worrier,

I've been wondering whether the Gero to Drummond Cove or even Coronation sea breeze down-winder might work - don't think you would want to do it on your own though! Start from Point Moore, straight out to clear the reef then it's on. I was keen to try it last year when I was in Gero but couldn't find anyone to do it with.

I reckon you could get a lift back with the windsurf/kite crew from Coronation too -no car drop is down-wind paradise.

For the big open water distance the Naish 14' Glide would be perfect IMO, it's actually not a bad board for no wind cruising too, wouldn't want to try surfing bommies on it though.....

I know you say you're not really into down-winders but believe me if you did a 30 knot Gero to Coronation on a down-wind board it would blow your mind - 25k of surfing!

If your coming down in Nov you can try my Glide if you want to give one a go. It should arrive next week.
Its hard to know which board to get if you can't demo them.

Hey fella's
A paddle from hells to drummonds will definitly be on the cards. I recon I will then be able to have a crack at "railways" on the way through. Im guessin you know which break this is Jonathon.
Southgates to Pt moore along the outer reef would be cool too. Just waitin for whale season to end. Too many big bastards with teeth around at the moment for me on my own.
Im in the process of orderin now. Im gonna go the 12' PSH so I can still get in the waves
I just think im gonna spend more time in waves than straight paddlin but this board will suit both pretty well.
Thanks for the offer Jenkz and if I get down that way I will look you up for a paddle.

I think it will be the first PSH in this part of the world.
Will be good to see if they are as good as all the guys over east recon.

Big bertha has arrived.
Took it out in a typical 18+ knot gero southerly the last 2 days and there is no way I could of gone out on the 10'6 Naish Very stable and paddles well.
Transport was great no dramas, so Im a happy camper.
Just need some swell and the wind to drop now.

That 12' PSH gun is a very sweet and versatile board-luckily, a generous mate of mine had one and has to leave it in my garage and I get to use it whenever he isn't.

Enjoy.

Had the big beast out a coupla times now.
Had a nice flat water paddle this morning then half an hour in some offshore wind, beach breaks at our back beach.
The pointy nose makes a huge difference paddlin through the waves compared to the round nose SUPs . I wasn't expectin that. Heaps easier.
Changed the thruster fins for some FCS7s to stop some sideways movement and then I may need to change the centre fin for somethin a bit bigger. Anyone else changed the fins around Any suggestions
Then it was time to arc up the bbq for the cup and a few beers.(3 winners ,broke even)
. The Olympus camera has died so photos will have to wait for a while. Might go the go-pro I think.
Off to Perth with the missus then the Phillipines for work for a week or so on Sunday so hopefully the 9'5" mana will arrive while Im away to complete the quiver
for this summer.
