The new 09 Starboard looks interesting...It looks very wide...and looks very floaty.

I think it's called the Technora..and at 10'1" x 34" it would be a great 'Big Guy' SUP for the suf.

isn't technora - the build technology they use ?? might be wrong.

10.1 x34'' must be bottom pic, lools like a cool thruster too..the bind boggles at the sort of stuff u could get upto on a super stable platform like this,

top pic is 9'8 fish - must be new graphics- nice crease

I like the look of the round tail !! Does it look smaller than the fish to you guys or is it just me ? Less area in and around the nose?

Graphics look pretty cool I reckon !!

Wow a smallish type board that really will float a heavyweight at that width, interesting.

Hey DJ, where did you get this information from?
I somehow think that these specs could possibly be wrong?
As for the first photo it looks more like the 9'8 as previously mentioned.
10'5 x 32 or 34 would be my guess for the second photo?
IMO I also think that the width has nothing to do with float.
Its probably more due to the volume? The width would be more related to a stable thing... but 34"... You may ask why? Why not?
With the right shaped rails and tail, this could possibly be a lethal board!?
Correct me if Im wrong

Why not?..Because the wider you go the harder to get the board from rail to rail..IMO..

Besides..Who wants a SUP the size of a door?..

Here's a link to those pics.. http://www.surfingsports.com/blog.asp

wide can be loose for sure

you just have to increase vee as you get wider - give the board something to "roll off"-
it is important to get a good rail to rail action for reos and floaters -as you have to quickly present the rail to the lip at the last minute .

However Wide boards with flat thru the tail are stiff as. But can be incredibly drivey.

Starboard are pretty good at going places others fear to tread. 34 is pretty wide though.

I'd like to see a 34 inch wide board with a deep barrel concave thru the entry and guts with a late heavy vee roll out thru a wide swallow tail - could be insane for small waves!!
