Still a lot of the old K15 in that board....stretched it, same belly and plan shape, different nose, same dagger board insert and lowered standing area with foam beeding glued to the top.

23 wide. Aimed at the 1%'ers clearly.

Beautiful looking piece of kit.
But I would have to agree with Supanimal it would probably have a limited market.
Doesn't it cut through the water nicely though.

cuts nice. if watch him paddle is a slow stroke rate which you would expect paddling a board that length. fast as it looks your going to have to be a very strong paddler to keep it going because you still have to haul that length of waterline.

i have a dc 15'6 x 25" flatwater/ small dw board which has some amazing glide. i've found it best in long paddles at about 13 to 15 effort out of 20 the best rate to paddle it at.

made for the serious flatwater race paddler and looks a winner

I don't think the dagger board insert is quite the same as the K15. That was a windsurfing slot in the middle of the board. In this new board, it's a fin box just forward of the regular fin box. Otherwise, it certainly has a good deal of K15 DNA.

Interesting that Starboard has resisted making an Unlimited downwind board all these years, and when they finally do release an Unlimited, it is a flat water rocket. Still, I'd love to take it for an extended run.

Oh yes, I'm tempted. But I think there's a speed limit on the Yarra.

Didn't you paddle the Dean Snow prototype? Looks like the same outline with a sunken deck.

Time Trial machine! It might not be that unstable, the extra length makes up for some of the narrowness...wonder if they'll bring one in over here, it should get you over 10km/h ave speed in no time.

Gonna be interesting to try and turn it 180deg around a buoy. Looking forward to trying it.

What is says on the box:

Effortless glide and unmatched speed. No size or shape restriction, this board was engineered to reduce all drag factors. The ideal board for Olympic Canals or flat water. 2 Fin positions are offered:

The back position to accommodate the Race 24 Fin for flat water racing.

The forward position accommodates a Freeride 30 Fin, which enhances stability and makes the hull an unparalleled weapon on a light downwind run.

The Freeride Fin mode is also an ideal option for getting used to this narrow hull.

Length 17'6, Width 23", Tail Width 14.6", Volume 192l

Tracking 10, Manoeuvrability 2, Stability 5, Glide 10+++

Hey Kieranr,

I had the only K15 in Aus with a working rudder system and I assure you that even with my lack of skill and wide ass it would go around a 180 - 270 buoy no issues at all and the glide was insane.

At 102 kg I paddled it in the wind and chop, with som 20-30 cm waves... I mean, i tried to.
During about half an hour I was trying, in which the first 20 minutes I was failing. I don't recall falling more than 10 times back to back, just trying to stand. Then I relaxed a bit and started trying a bit less and, surprise surprise, I did it.

Even if the board was not conceived for the conditions I had on offer I wanted to try it and I went on a short paddle.

Super fast, paddles effortless and glides like nothing i've ever seen before. Before trying this one I thought the Ace had a lot of glide...LOL!! Of course the Ace has a lot of glide, but this board is just another level of glide.

When the time came for coming back to shore, I though of jumping and rotating 180º and then using the tail as nose. Not really, but it was probably easier than turning the thing in 25 knots wind and chop.

During the presentation of the SUP range the Starboard boys and girls said something about a global speed challenge on this board. Don't know if it will happen or not, but it should be fun to watch!!!

Cheers
