Hi. Can anyone confirm if the recommended max rider weight for the starboard surf pros are pretty close?
I'm looking at getting one for the bigger days, no demos nearby, and at 96-98kg was considering the 9'0" or the 8'5" x 29" surf pro.
Any advice on these sizes from Starboard enthusiasts would be greatly appreciated.
It is a great website.
Cheers.

I can definitely confirm that the quoted "max rider weight" of 95kg for the 9'0" is not accurate. I'm 6'2" 102kg and the 9' floats me perfectly. Water level is just under the deck level on my brushed carbon. I'd imagine that the wood and AST constructions would sit lower in the water though.

Cheers Zeusman, how does it handle the bigger stuff?

I've only had it out in about 5-6ft. Its a fantastic board. Responsive and fast, however I have found it doesn't always hold a rail as well as i'd like.

I'm 85kg or so, and the 2013 8'5" pro floats me no probs at 106litres, and the airborn 98 litre board is more stable and no probs floating me. Height is the issue, and how wide they are. If you've got the balance the 8'5" would handle you.

if you put cdrive fins in the 9'0" there won't be any more rail holding problems, either. I can't spin my 8'5" out with them in it, no matter how hard I push it.

Thanx zeusman. That would suit my local fine, appreciate your feedback. The x32 is my first carbon board. This will now be my second......

Cheers tang, just had a look at those fins. I'm a sucker for a shape like that. Look like they'd really "work" for you.

Their effect on a board simply can't be talked up too much. Incredible, they are. Grab em ASAP.
