Hi.. I'm Sean Poynter.. I'm a stand up paddler for Starboard.. Check it out..

You can check out the vid here.. www.mensjournal.com/

It's a 3 minute vid with 3 seconds of surfing but maybe this guy's someone to watch out for.

This is a better vid with some cool music.

That board he is on seems to be really restricting him.

The first guy on the blue sup showed superior wave positioning and his sup seemed a lot quicker than the sb disc.

That may be true, but he looks good walking out to the water with that majestic timber beauty under his arm. And that has to count for something.

Starboard are rubbish and they do not honour their warranty .... i broke one of their weak boards in half just by paddling out through waves smaller than those in this video ........... i would never buy one and recommend no one else does either .......

I have surfed on a few starboard SUB's over in NZ, and they were super fun and the NZ starboard guys are champs. How did you break a board paddling out ?
I surfed a 8'0 starboard out a 6ft beachy seemed pretty solid to me..

Those waves looked perfect for a sup. We dont have anything like that around my local. The guys seemed to surf good. I dont have any knowledge on the sup's their riding. Ive only ever ridden laguna's. I reckon its a pretty cool video. I'm working on a video now but i reckon Ill be to paranoid to post it on seabreeze you guys are harsh critics hahahahaha I might put some porn in it so its worth watching hahaha

I thought the guy on the Blue board was going well and those waves looked super fun.

Although Sean Poynter didn't look as smooth as the other fella I just wonder what he and the shaper will learn from that design and what it leads them to next?

I saw an older vid on vimeo last week which I hadn't seen for a while of some fella on a small board(very small at the time of the original posting I think?) and one of the comments at the bottom was that it looked like he was struggling to get into the waves..least thats what I think the half wit was trying to say lol. The soundtrack was good and the rider had a beaver tail and I think it was an evening shoot...I look forward to DJ finding it and posting it on here

All i'm trying to say is that these fella's...and yourselves over in Aus with all the custom shaping going on, finding new and improved ways to shape and ride are keeping this relatively new sport fresh and exciting....oh and I've never ridden a starboard so wouldn't want to comment on construction

Don't think you need to worry Appsy, apart from the fact you rip I don't think people here are harsh at all.

My observation was that the guy on the timber SUP who the article was about, was clearly a top notch surfer but was obviously struggling due to the design restrictions of what he was riding - particularly compared to the guy on the Blue model.

yeah the guy on the blue board is ripping really a good avert for whichever board brand that is vs the starboard which looks not that crash hot in those conditions ,the kid looks like he can surf really well. but it was as if he was doing well to handle the sup he was on?
Yeah a starboard was the first sup i ever brought it looked great with the wooden deck etc and i had it for about 2 weeks wasnt the board for me too flat but thats not saying it isnt good for someone?
