I was in RPS Melbourne the other day and spotted a new SUP board.

It was standing up on its end next to the 11'6" Naish and was maybe 4" shorter.

I got it down and had a good look at it and was surprised to see that it was a new Mistral board.

It's a new Mistral Pacifico..and very different from the original Pacifico.

Similar cream and light brown color but much better shape..IMO

It not only had inserts for a mast base but also inserts for footstraps.

Next time I'm in there I'll take a couple of pics..It looks pretty good..I can't find any pics of it on the net.

I always thought the shape on the old one was a bit odd with the big round nose and so thick through the nose area.

DJ

This was the old one.

I was in there on Saturday arvo, and spotted that aswell,
I didnt pull it out for a look but I dont think it was quite as thick and didnt seem to have the full eva deck like the old one, I was having a chat to the French guy in there and he reckons its more of a dedicated surfing SUB.

Hey DJ,

Found these pictures on the net which stated that this is the 2008 mistral pacifico but they do look like the board you are showing in your thread so im probably way off as i've never seen mistral. The sizes they give for this board are 11'4'' long and 30.7'' wide, the weight is 12.9kg which compared to my naish is 2 kilos heavier.

The review that i read on the board which was done by the guy in the pic's was dated may 2007 so i guess im talking about the old board

quote from website

The new Mistral Pacifico leaves you with a smile on your face. It can be used as either a great early-planing windsurf board or as a stand up paddle board. Windsurfing was never so easy and so much fun!

The Pacifico is designed to offer a smooth ride with a surf feel. It was shaped by Mark Nelson, and offers a flatter nose rocker section that makes a great platform for nose riding. The shape's outline gives a pleasant glide for long-distance stand up paddling.

Features a complete EVA deck for smooth and comfortable riding, a carrying handle for easy transportation, a leash insert for wave riding, and a G10 customized 28cm fin designed by Kai Hopf.

Does anyone here on this forum own this board?

Hello there,
we actually have the Mistral Pacifico in use at our school.
They are good board very polivalent, can use for paddling but also for Windsurfing.
We had them planning and is quite a spectacle.
In waves are not that great but as they are the only board we got we are surfing all kind of waves.... Also can't comment much as I didn't try many other boards.
You can see some pics on our web site www.bali-standuppaddle.org

I think the board DJ was talking about is the Pacifico Wave. This board is thinner and much more oriented to surfing than the original model. Also has more rocker and Vee particularly in the tail than the orig.

Without a doubt it will surf better without compromising the windsurfing side too much if that's what you're in to.

Will give a bit of feedback once we've got one on the water.
I've got a few photos of the board on the following link if you want to check them out.

Cheers,

Thanks to Matt Trigger (Trigger Bros) I was able to get back my deleted pictures..Here's te pics that I took of the new Mistral Pasifico.

It's nice..but..IMO..It's more of a sailboard that you can SUP on..(not that there's anything wrong with that.. ;D)

It's a better shape than the last Pacifico..but still a bit thick through the nose..IMO..At least the rails are not thick and boxy.

Looks good. But still looks pretty windsurfing biased (which like you say DJ, nothing wrong with that). When I had a quick paddle on the old pacifico I thought that it had fairly ordinary stiffness and felt like a 'plastic mass production' windsurfer. You could really feel it flex paddling into small chop.

But I guess being a mistral you are going to get that.

I do go for the classic styling tho. classy. Brown is the new black.
