Decided to buy a brand new 11 6" south point for my first board. It made sense, cause there was one already down here, no freight etc, and i have been using his demo board which is exactly the same, and i really liked it. Pick it up wednesday will do 1 hr in flat water, then straight out in the surf.

Hi Brooko,

R u buying one of the southpoint with the new construction like DJ was talking about.

Cause every southpoint ive seen the grips seems to lift off the edges.

Hopefully yours doesnt.

Hey Ben, I think it is one of the older ones that the deck lifts off and the rails chip easily. But i am getting it for a good price & it is brand new never been used. The identical board he has which is the demo board has chipped rails and the deck grip is lifting. I will just be sure to not hit rails with paddle & will super glue deck grip down if it lifts. Hey dj might know is there some rail saver rubber or something you could put on paddle to stop chips?

You can get clear ding tape to put on the rails of boards to help prevent paddle chips. $25 /side but the board looks much better when you go to sell it.

All our demo boards have it on them and it works great. The material is PVC with 3M adhesive on the back. Size is 2m long X 5cm wide X 2mm thick.

Sam.

Also putting electrical tape around the edge of the paddle blade will help..I use two layers.

Hi Brooko,

I just posted in the other forum and just like DJ i use bit of tape around the edges.

U'll find more u do it less u hit the rails.

But i have seen this rubber lining made just for paddles in a surf shop which u glue on but at $40 i didnt bother buying it.

Ive snapped 2 paddles in the last month, one was from being a f'ing crap paddle and me hitting the rails to much and the other from being a f'ing crap paddle. lol

So gunna be buying sum C4 paddles soon.
