hi everyone. I am totally new to sup boarding and have loved the time I hired one once, so cut it short and sweet I want to get into it!!
Been looking at boards and been in and out of surffx and a few other shops but I think I hvae come to a decision, and that is to not spend so much money on really good named brand board and start off with a board from the surfboard warehouse.
So many people on this forum that are happy with the evoke, so why not get one for my first board.
I am only 70 odd kg's and have no wave surfing experience at all. I am mainly looking at cruising around the flat water at this stage. My wife is also looking at getting one.
Question is, what is the difference between the Atlantis and the evoke??
Cheers guys And girls.

Welcome to seabreeze!
I think there are a number of "Atlantis" models: Runway, Bam Bam, Vex Profusion, Halo, and Venom. Which one were you looking at?

Sorry I should of said the vex pro fusion instead of Atlantis. So the toss up for me would be between the vex pro fusion or the evoke.
I noticed the evoke is a tad wider than the pro.

I am not personally familiar with either board, but the Evoke is wider (32" versus 30") and seems to be more of an all rounder so that's the way I would go. Width is your friend when you are getting started.

The Vex is their performance surfboard, where as the Evoke is more of an allrounder.
I'd be getting the Evoke if I was starting out.
Talk to the guys in the shop. They are very helpful. They also have demo boards to try.
If you are going to be doing a lot of flat water paddling, you will be better off getting one of
the longer sizes, for better glide and tracking.

Wicksy is spot on. The vex is for serious surfing and just won't have the float you need and too much rocker. The evoke or even check out the "halo" too is what you're after. Great to learn on around the flat water and then you can still use the same board in the surf when you're keen to give it a crack.
