Hi all,

I have got a Kialoa Methane that I have fallen back in love with however it was my original paddle when I started SUP and with my technique improving over that time I have come to the realisation that it is cut to short for using on my Ace. Can anyone point me in the right direction on whether:
A. I can get a new shaft for the blade or
B. Better still is there a handle from another manufacturer that will fit into the end of the existing shaft if I was to cut the ergo T handle off (was fitted with araldite 2 part on the recommendation of my local store )

I would prefer to not have to buy another paddle as I think it will resolve in me having two vital body parts removed

Normal round carbon shafts will not fit your Kialoa blade.. Because it's oval.. Replacing the blade in your Methane is not that hard to do and a new shaft will cot about $130.. You could try the KaNalu extension T handle but getting it to fit in the top of our Kialoa shaft will be tricky.. and the extension T handles are not cheap.. Better to just fit a new shaft IMO.

How much do you need to extend it?.. I once saw a Kialoa with a Naish paddle T grip handle and that would extend it by about an inch.

A short timber dowel insert could also be an option... You can shape it to fit... Black tape could finish the illusion that it is still carbon!

A short timber dowel stump only weighs about 15 grams...

Perhaps you should keep that paddle that one as a backup and just get a new one!
Both the Kenalus and the new Starboard paddles have the option of extendable handles. Which is a very good idea considering that depending on the board you're paddling you may want some adjustability.

Having a backup is always nice because you never know when you're going to snap a paddle!
