Gidday all,
Been borrowing a SUP to muck around on (took daughter for her 1st windsurf and paddle) but now I finally got one for a birthday, huge thanks Windsurfnsnow. Ive surfed since a grommet but with stuffed knees I couldnt pop up anymore (knee just folds after too much footy and op).
My question is, if I want to get back into the waves is there a easier way to get back up after falling off??
Ive seen a few tips on popping up but my knees just dont work quickly.
Any tips from maybe older blokes who might suffer the same probs would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Larko.

Maybe get some good knee braces if you don't already have them because sup surfing is gunna be really hard on your knees no matter how you do it. The secret to minimising knee stress is to make sure you move your feet around on the board when you do turns and dont try to muscle it around standing in the one spot. Maybe try to watch someone riding a longboard and see how they move about on a board and make the board turn/trim etc rather than just standing flat footed and putting immense pressure on their knees/ankle/hips/back etc (like a shortboarder would). The other thing is to make sure you always have soft knees when you are paddling - by that I mean not locked out or too bent - just an ever so slight bend to allow a bit of shock absorption and it makes it easier to correct any wobbles.
