Just got back from an evening paddle. Took my Southpoint Kalama to Williamstown at 8.30 pm and paddled for an hour around the boats. There are lots of lights around the piers and marinas at Williamstown, so visibility is not a problem. It was very still and glassy calm. It was great being out there in the dark. No boat traffic. The lights of the city looked great across Hobsons Bay. It was kind of spooky, and very relaxing, and a good workout at the same time.
I'm going to try to paddle in the evenings whenever the conditions are right. I may use a headtorch for safety (to be seen).
Anyone else ever paddle in the dark?

Nope, but I've been thinking about it - been so calm lately. I could imagine it would be spooky. Sounds like fun - count me in when you next go.

Yeah Miller and I have paddled in the dark heaps.
We have had the marina so glassy it was ridiculous.
I heard one person say "check out those two, looks like they are walking on water"

JohnDavid..I just checked the wind graph for when you were out..3 knots Nor'easter (dead off shore)...Couldn't be better.

Don't paddle too close to those big ships in case someone on board flushes the toilet..

I used to windsurf at night in strong winds in summer..and you would hear..splash, splash,splash,..silence..,splash,splash etc..and how long the silence was was how big the jump was..

Hey..Count me in guys..

DJ, are you up for the paddle on the Yarra tomorrow evening, as per Oliver's suggestion? Rowing sheds.

Yes-sir-eee...I'll be there..

Just watch out for the brown mullets in the water....You don't want to fall in.

Even though the speed limit is 5 kph on the Yarra some of those barges can fly past and kick up quite a wake..

I'll see if Nic can join us.
