I got my info from the TV news. Guess they were wrong

The Festival was such a great event. We were a little starved for waves for the first few days, but I guess thats the beauty of SUP. Bonga is a classic competitor, and a very deserving win to him. Well done! But as for the level of riding across the fleet, very impressive. It seems the short board SUP is something to be taken seriously. I still think that majority of SUP surfers are going to prefer the longer 11'+ style of board, but as a shortboarder I really enjoyed riding the shorter board. For this event, the judging criteria was strongly weighted to the radical tight turns of a shorter board. I was using the New Naish 9'6" quad fish, and it was very impressive. I ended up coming 9th, which I'm pretty stoked with. and I now have a great appreciation for the shorter boards.

Big props out to the USM event management team for putting on a great event. I look forward to going again next year.

Can't give you a pic at the moment, boards in at the repairer's (I had an issue with the point at National parks, nearly made the section)

But the board is super cool. 9'6" x 29.25" x 4.25". Swallow tail with single flyers near the front fins. Quad fin FCS. Super loose and fast. Suprisingly easy to paddle. I thought it would be much harder at my weight (93-95kg). Definately puts a divider into the sport. I now believe that there is going to be shortboard SUP and long board SUP. Both equally as fun but very different to each other (same as in normal surfing). When I get my board back I will put up a pic! I think www.naishsurfing.com/ News is going to run some pics of me surfing, so maybe check it out next week or so.

Sup just seems to have no boundaries, longboard, shortboard, sail, fitness, transport......,......

I think Kai is riding one of the earlier prototypes, but yes, very similar to that one.

Scotty, never wrote it off. it's a different sport! Like shortboarding and Mals. On a short SUP you don't actually get on the waves much earlier than a normal mal. But as far a SUP goes they are very radical to surf. The longer SUP are still far more effective for getting into smaller crappier waves early. The whole SUP thing is awsome, sailing, longboards and short!
