Hey Guys,
Any suggestions for a good SUP surf sport up north of Tassie?
Only new to it but would really love a nice small rolling break to give it a real crack.

Cheers,
Kane

Marrawah IS NOT a small rolling break and not suitable for a novice.
There is an occasional small and very gentle wave at Hawley Beach (when there are BIG westerley swells it'll be 1-2 ft)
Lulworth (tam o shanter) near Pipers river has nice surf from time to time but be VERY respectful of the local crew if its on.
Bridport river mouth is my pick for a consistent and fun wave. Its shallow and heavily affected by current so a legrope is a must but its so much fun. I'd be happy to meet you up there sometime for a paddle/surf.

So your suggesting that one place is not good for beginners, but somewhere that is shallow and heavily affected by currents is?

What about those beaches on the east side of The Nut? .. A good friend once told me that can be very good but there was hardly a ripple there when I was there last.. You would be best to ask the local surf shops on the day or contact the tassiesup guys because they would know best.

btw Marrawah can be very big and dangerous like tassiesup said but when it's dead flat and no swell anywhere else you will almost always get a small wave there.. I've surfed it glassy and 2-3' and on that day to would be just what you're looking for but it reminds me of a place here called Gunamatta so it's somewhere to keep away from if there big waves and strong winds.

It is not dangerous - the waves are on average 1/2 to 1ft - its about 2ft deep, and its currenty enough to be an annoying walk through the shallows if you fall off without a legrope.
Hope that clarifies for you.

Hey DJ - fully agree about Marrawah when its flat - just beautiful. And yes,Stanley is really nice and pretty safe as well.

Hawley and Bridport are two of the nicest places Ive ever paddled and very novice friendly in all conditions - they are not renowned for consistent waves though.

THE real solution
is to move to Dunalley.

It is surf central .. 20 min from
4 of the best breaks in Tassie

Covering all swell directions.

Very cheep realestate since the recent bushfires.

I was thinking

Secret spot
Eaglehawk
Carlton River
Park Beach

From this selection you would
surf a SUP every day

Just had a session on the Carlton River "Super Bank"

If your thinking of the secret spot starting with "B" it's not really a secret spot anymore.

Thanks for the feed back lads.
Tassiesup- I was up at Hawley on Sunday with the family, the whole family had a ball and managed to catch a few little ankle slappers with was great fun. Bridport hey I might have to check that one out. If I can manage a leave pass I will message you for a paddle.

DJ - Heard of Marrawah, it's a bit of a trek from Launy but the missus is keen to visit the nut, maybe we can look around Stanley while we are there.

2MT- thanks for the offer mate but you know the whole north v's south debate mate hahaha one of my mate surfs Cartlon river and rubs it in constantly!!!

Anyway thanks for the replies everyone, having a ball, Kids catch some little waves the missus has a board and have a nice big lake mostly to our selves less than 2 mins away double teaming on the boards with the kids AWESOME!!!!

Thanks again for the replies.
