Amazing Worldwide initiative to spend one hour each Saturday to clean up a local beach.

Did an hour at Silver Beach, Kurnell, NSW, Australia. Site of Captain Cook's historic first landing in the New World. Mostly plastic and styrofoam. One syringe and a penguin (small plastic version). Lots of natural debris, sea weed, palm fronds, sea grass, tree "bits". Was a good way to start, while the kids played and learned by good example. It's a big job though. Could have spent many more hours there.

Just a tip, leave the natural debris. Dead seagrass provides habitat and natural nutrient and carbon cycling processes that are part of a healthy marine ecosystem.

Left the good bits where they were. Mostly plastic in my bag at the end. Far too much plastic.
