Well did my first long ocean paddle this morning from currumbin to burleigh heads and return. Water was so clear and glassy you could see the palmbeach reef 6m deep and the water very nice at 23c with bright blue skies.
Got to ride the 14ft C4 ocean board and i loved it. Had great time trying to race the guys but OMG my arms and shoulders are sore this arvo.
Took 35mins approx each way for 8-10km (approx) return. Should've taken some photos to post but as usual i forgot, next time.

Loved the c4 for fast ocean paddling for sure def the fastest board i've been on. My normal sup is the 11'6 or 10'6 naish which i love in the waves. I am 60kg and didn't find the 14ft c4 tippy at all but the water was like an oil slick, so glassy. I had no trouble keeping up with the larger guys, although the last 1km was very hard on the arms.

I started the paddle on my 11'6 but the c4 rep was with us and he offered me to try out the 14ft. I love my 11'6 to start on in the beginning which was about 6 months ago and now i perfer the 10'6 in the waves. I def needed the volume of the 11'6 naish to start with.
As for keeping up with the 14ft c4 board when i was on my 11'6 on the ocean paddle was hard!! I found myself doing 2 quik stokes to thier 1 stoke.
The 11'6 is great for both ocean paddling and surfing on if you wanted an all round board.

hey Ben are you entering the snapper to currumbin race , ive put my entry in im thinking its going to be a long way on a 11.6 expecially if the wind isnt right.
What are you going to ride in the race.

download one from surfing australia web site , dont worry about coming last mate,that will more than likely be me.Any way its not about winning just having fun.And a few beers after the race.

I'm going for wave session in the morning at the alley. I'm keen to do snapper to bin paddle forsure this sunday. I think i will enter the comp, see how i go on practise.
