They are hooked. I took them tot he festival at Noosa today and they loved it. They watch all to the semi finals. They only complaint they had was taht I took them for a little surf infront of the club and they wanted the waves were the comp was.

look for a original windsurfer brand board . Its around 11 foot and shaped a bit like a mal (full nose with a squash tail). they will have a small round sticker near the tail with Sailboards Australia on it. should be quite easy to find one. thousands were sold in the 80s, They paddle very well on flat water. The flat rocker,narrow width and weight help them glide very well, I still paddle mine on the river cause it goes heaps better on the flat water then my other boards( kalama and JL).

They are pretty hard to surf, but you can put some extra rocker into then with weight and heat (sun).

Search the swaylocks sight for good info about making wooden paddles.Its quite easly to turn out a resonable wooden paddle for bugger all.
you should be able to have heaps of flat water/very small wave fun while you wait to get the nod on buying a real SUB.

don't listen to the doom sayers, get out and have some fun with what you can get your hands on

I am pretty sure Goodtime in Brisbane have two windsurfer one designs complete with rig for $99 ea. Might be worth a look, I would be surprised if you could sink a one design.

well looks like the boys doing well he can now paddle across the lake and back twice without falling lol

have to increase the length of his paddle and put a bigger blade on but then will be all good.

i've only been windsurfing a few years - late sarter.

but is this ten cate board a ..... wave board ????? whats with the 3 fin box's???
was it meant to be set up as a thruster,, or was it single fin or twin??
how windsurfers have evolved eh?

i'm trying to picture it droppping down a decent face, chunky tail with a centre board too

Nothing wrong with going on the cheap. there are lots of old windsurf boards that will work pretty well, or any big longboard in the 11' 6" X 26" area. It will be a lot of work to learn to stand on it, but it can be done. I'm 250 and 62 years old and I can do it. So can you.

For paddles, lots of folks start with a cheap canoe paddle and modify it. I bought an adjustable one at a marine supply store for $15 US. I've built a paddle out of a broken windsurfing boom, just for fun. You can make a blade pretty easily from Fiberglass or just glue on a plastic blade. works okay for beginning, and there's guys that are still doing it, even in surf, with cobbled together stuff.

Too shipping has gone nuts from Maui, I have a couple of boards i'm going to sell pretty cheap that would be ideal--a jimmy Lewis 11er and a Naish 10'6". Cleaning out the garage prior to heading for Oregon for the summer.

There are a few basic paddles out there that will do the job while you are starting up. When you are having a lend of someones check out the pitch on the blade. They can start out pretty straight up and down or out as far as a 16 degree pitch on some. I prefer one about an 8 degree pitch. Try a Kia Kaha paddle, I found it fantastic.

HI met woogie, last week great guy really knows his stuff, his products are fantastic. Im an epoxy vacumebagging expert,sort of, built the America's cup cat and some other 40 foot racing cats for the european market so no a little bit.
