Hey Guys,

I just brought a 9'8 starboard and 11'6 naish and was wondering whats the best way to transport them.

I have roof racks on the car, do you guys usually put boards stacked 2 high? i.e one on top of the other or should they be side by side...I dont even think they would fit side by side.

Any idea what load the roof racks need to be rated to? I am bit woried about seeing 1000s of $ bouncing on the road in the rear view mirror.

What sort of car do you have? I have a Subaru that has roof rails running the length of the roof. The SUP fits nicely on the crossbars and the tie-downs go round the rails.

I use these tie downs http://www.stickprotection.com/pro_surf.htm

Good quality racks are are generally rated to 80kg (and manu. specs as well), so weight is no drama. Even if you could fit them side by side, I would stack them ontop of each other as the aerodynamics are better.

Hi Andrew

I have stacked my 11'2 starboard and a friends whopper on top of each other no problem just need long enough tie downs.

I am sure you would do this but put the long board down first with the smaller on top. I have seen some guys put them fin firt but i prefer the nose pointing to the front of the car.

or you can do it this way

Hi Andrew,
your Delicia is a similar shape to my VW Syncro and I bought a couple of roof cages, can just squeeze two side by side and then stack them upwards, largest first.
This is a pic with just the SB 12'2" from last week:

and on the campervan on a standard rack -2 high:
