Is it just me but dont these on board cameras seem like a bit of a wank, Out of focus , out of proportion , reminds me of a gym junkie looking at himself in the mirror.

It's the super wide angle lens you don't like. The wide angle also hides the lack of image stabilization.

If you can deal with a slightly larger camera, you get a better lens and image stabilization.
