I had a total hip replacement about 4 years ago after suffering from a degenerative hip condition and as soon as I had made a recovery I got right into sup. I had been keen for a while but the hip had held me back and then finally getting out on a sup was the best thing ever for my hip and my body overall. Sup paddling and surfing really strengthens the hips, legs, core, back, chest, arms- well lets just say its a total body workout

It is also very low impact (usually) so it doesn't aggravate in the way a lot of other activities do.
I would definitely recommend it to someone with hip issues it really helped me
