Does anyone out there wear a PFD when SUP'ing?

My other half is worried that I go out alone and should wear one. Having had heart surgery 4 times, there's a fear of me having a heart attack (I am not worried about it personally).

Anyways - can you recommend one? I figure some could get annoying whilst paddling. I'll be mostly paddling in lakes and areas that won't be too rough.

Waist pack style inflatables don't get in the way much. Most SUP board shops carry them now, kayak and marine shops too.

The waist pack inflatable PFD's are great but I would not recomend one in your situation.. These inflatable PFD's take time and are tricky to put on in an emergency.. and they often fail.. If you were to have a heart attack the last thing you'll be wanting to do is fiddle around trying to fit the PFD and inflate it.. You would be much better with the standard type and the one we have found to be the best is the Ultra Pinnacle or Ultra Trek.. Buy the largest size because the shoulder straps are longer so you can wear it around your waist more rather than tight up under your arms.
