Can anyone compare the PSH 10.6 wide all arounder to the Starboard 10.5? Could be they're too similar to be distinguishable; then again, maybe one is better at some things -- noseriding, stability, turning, whathaveyou -- than the other. If anyone has ridden both, maybe you could leap forward and say a few words. Thanks!

Both good boards starboard less rocker so more longboard style big single fin works best, noserides etc. PSH better setup with smaller centre fin and bigger side fins for more performance surfing. Talking degrees here as both big boards. Good flat water paddlers with the starboard having slightly better glide.

You can't go wrong, demo if you can.

thanks for the response, hilly. as it happens, i've got the starboard 10.5 and like it a bunch, but with the psh's about to go down in price in the states, i was thinking maybe i should own one of those as well, , if it was sufficiently different to make it worthwhile. wouldn't be able to demo it however ....

Very similar boards I would get something bigger or smaller to complement the 10 5. 9 6 wide R or AA would have a serious performance edge over the 10 5. New 10 wide AA due out Sept/Nov would be nice too.

Or go custom.

yeah, i guess you're right, too similar. the 10waa is the one i really want ... i only hope i can last until nov, when they're due. my pal has the 9.3 c4 subvector; have any idea how that would compare stability-wise to the 9.6waa? (i've also ridden the 9.8 starboard extremist, if that's at all comparable.) thanks!

The 9.3 SUB V is a SUPER stable board-about as stable as the 906WR IMO (I own [wife does] a 906WR and have briefly [1/2 hour] ridden the SUB V in very windy/choppy waves). SUB V has very full rails (in the production model-but you can get custom to refine) so if for surfing, better suited to a heavier bloke IMO-Simon from Newcastle SUP is the man for the SUB V info.

thanks, loco, for the info. as stable as the sub vector is supposed to be, i've had some trouble on my pal's, probably due to various balance issues, etc. from the looks of things, i think it's best that i try to sit tight and wait for the 10.0 WAA's. of course, now that has me wondering how those are going to compare to the existing 10.3AAs, which are supposed to be more stable than the 10.6AAs, which are supposed to be slightly less stable than the 10.6WAAs. Ha! Too many choices! Got to love it!

Err I think the 10 3 is less stable than 10 6, exact same width but shorter. Never tried one though.
I do know to my financial cost a 9 6 W Ripper is almost as stable as a 10 6 AA.

could be, but i think i read somewhere that the 10.3aa is thicker than the 10.6aa, with a more rounded nose and fuller rails, thus making it more stable. i could be wrong about that, tho ...

Have a look at http://www.kenalu.com/forums/showcase-index/psh-10-6-and-10-3-all-rounder-sand-epoxy/ says 10 3 thinner less stable might go well with your 10 5
