Seriously Casso, How fun are tiny waves with that board??!

Incredibly fun!

Ha ha! I'm with ya! We been riding everything on it lately. The other day we had a "Longest Ride" contest with Stewart Ferriman on his 12' Gun. All 3 of us were up and riding waves in the same set. We would be trying to out distance the guy on the front wave. Soooooooooooooooo much fun.

Hey Phill - no worries, just make sure you get the same colour, grip them similarly, and put the same stickers on them:

Do you think my wife will notice????

Thanks for posting this. I really like this pic!! Funny comment too...

Its easier for me though! I have a 9'6 not a 9'3 so much closer to the same size!!!!!!

I reckon that'll probably do me for a while. Well, at least until Blane's smaller boards (or customs) start being available here.

Cool fun.

We were getting rides for over a minute on the weekend. But that's still nothing like the three minute rides I was getting at a place up the coast over Christmas (caught on camera too).

Just had a session in some reasonable juice of Manly - 6'-7' faces.
There is often a nice fat peak that breaks right out that no one bothers going out to as they just wait further in for the reform. For me this is what this style of board is for - catching those big ones that feather way out the back.
I am surprised how easy this board is to transition into after riding 9'6's all summer.
Most bigger boards take quite a whilst to get used to as they take SOOO much effort to turn after whippy shorter boards. Dont get me wrong the 12' GUN is a BIG board, but it is surprisingly nimble for its size and turns just so sweet off the tail. I had a ball!

For me this board opitpomizes why I got into to Paddle Surfing the first place - it lets you catch waves that you would just struggle on, on any other board. And above all it is pure fun. Your not being drawn into the pack, you just paddle way out to any remote break and away you go.

So far I have had it in 1' and 6' and I've come out of both sessions with a very BIG smile on my face.

LOVING LIFE!

Sounds great AA, I reckon I will have to get me self one of these

Is that 6 ft surf (double overhead) or 6 ft faces you have had it in AA?
Just a little confused on the size thing, I would love to hear how it went in solid 6 ft plus surf

BROOKO, 6'faces - I always measure the WAVE FACE as I am usually staring straight at it and it is the lease confusing (for me anyway). We have a 2m swell running and it was peaking at about 8' drops on the take-off.

With a board this size of course, the bigger it is the easier it is to turn. It took one drop to remember not to point straight down and one back hand turn to remember to go back that little bit further.

As it is designed for BIG hawaiian waves I guess we are all interested to see how it goes in the smaller Aussie waves.

So far so good, it is a RIPPER by nature and this seems to be the key - a nice fine turny tail.
The other surprise was when those little sections walled up in front and I had to decide wether to go or stay. Both times the speed took me right where i wanted to be. It is a fast board once it is wound up. Need a nice big blade ( Shakka Pu'u) to drive it, I was a little under-gunned with a Methane. I am sure CASSO will do the full review once he dropped a few big ones.

PIRO's the next shipment is in September. If you are in QLD or VICO check with your local dealer because there will only be limited numbers (they're bloody big) and we can only fit so many in.

RIK, I used 7" Future fins Albacore flex with Medium Mick Fanning (Shapers) side bites - this is a NICE side bite!! Would go large in 6+ plus.

Held in well. Nice and loose. Need to test fins it on bigger waves.

On fins, what would be the ultimate set up for a 10.6 wide to loosen it to the max

nice work blane

loved how you flip the blade of your paddle around to glide it on the wave face then flip it back to dig in a few strokes

have to try that one

pretty keen to have a try on one of these slick sticks when i'm down in sydney in the next week boys

hope their is a roaring southerly so i can just paddle off into the distance all the way back to minnie water on one of then never to be seen again...lol...

opppsss!!! did i say that out aloud

Nice one Blane, loved it.

Isn't it cool (that board on those types of waves) that everything is slowed down and you have time to think about what you're doing which allows you to work on your style (and antics).

Andrew and Casso,

I have a PSH 10'6 WAA which I use from waist high to double head high. I am looking for a board which I would use at "The Box" when it is small and for flat water fitness when I do not have time to get to the surf, I would not be using it in the big surf. I had assumed the PSH 12 would to too small for me (105kg) as I am looking for something slightly more stable than my 10'6. I was considering a DC 12'6 customised for my weight, but I would be interested in your view on the suitability of the PSH 12.

The PSH 12'0" Gun would be an awesome board for "The Box" - either when it's tiny or massive. I can't wait to get mine out there.

It's just under 5" thick so you'll be sweet loading it up with 105kg.

The DC 12'6" will be a faster board and much better for racing but the PSH will be better for those small days out "The Box". Depending on how you get the DC modified for you, the PSH will probably be more stable - especially when you're not on still/flat water.

Here's some footage of the maiden voyage. Sorry it's so long but the waves were long and I wanted to show how well the board can stay on these little runners. Notice the glide, even when the wave isn't breaking.

You count your longest wave on the vid? I counted one at 57 secs-gave up watching and checking the rest-pretty amazing wave time.....shame it wasn't barreling

I used the timer on my editing program to check the length of an unedited one - 82 seconds. Yep, pretty amazing wave.

Here's a three minute ride though:
