There are numerous boards out there that you might find are way better than both you have mentioned for a whole host of reasons but if it it these two you are set on then it is hands down the PSH - no comparison in quality and performance and did I mention quality ! Also coming up on summer with all the new boards about to hit our shores there will be an abundance of really good second hand premium brands getting about so don't rush into anything until you have tried em all. Ask every shop for a demo and if they aint got one then go somewhere who has !!

The 9'2 AA is one very fun board...

My mate Scott started SUP on the 10' Oxbow and IMO it surfed really really well! A bit more Mal style but was loose.
Could of had slightly more rocker.

I have owned and ridden the 9'6" Oxbow Pilot and haven't had a problem with construction. Rock solid!

Both Oxbow and PSH are at the slightly heavier end of the scale compared to some other brands but the durability of
either brand can't be faulted.

These days PSH shapes are great and more refined than the Oxbow and you will get better surf performance out of them.
As Phill said try before you buy if thats an option.


The first Oxbow 10' was probably the most high performance SUP on the market when it was originally released, alongside the Bonga 2 years ago.

Overall, the Oxbow is fractionally more stable but the PSH is slightly more performance oriented. The PSH sits in between a longboard and shortboard SUP whereas the Oxbow is more conducive to longboard style riding.

Hi James,

I can comment on both the boards your asking about.

The 9'2 Psh AA - Very nice looking fun small board with a rounded nose but very thin swallow tail. Like most PSH sup's you only have to take 1 look at the tails on them and you can see they surf well.
Nice quality board and the one we had in the shop went super quik! So got more coming.

The Oxbow 10ft - Pretty different board to the PSH, not as higher in performance ride but still pretty fun.

If i had to choose either, i would go with the 9'2. Shape wise, performance & quality.

Also to Billboard's comment, it is impossible for a shop to have a demo board in everything. If we did, we'd have like 50 -60 board in a demo fleet, that's silly. Demo boards are picked by trying to find what going to be most popular.

I am not saying that a retailer should carry every model as a demo - yes, that would be totally unrealistic and bloody expensive. All I am saying is that a person should not buy any board without at least demoing a board of the same brand and similar in size and getting a feel for that type of board - whether it be a pointy nosed shortboard type of sup or a fuller shaped mal type. Every board is different but certain brands do have similarities in the overall feel to the board - so what I am saying is that one should look around and try as many of the different brands in as many of the available sizes as they can. Sure you may not be able to get on, say a 9'2 psh but someone may have a 9'6 version and that will at least give you an idea of the overall feel of the psh brand and you can assess the quality of the label and start to make some educated decisions. I know that on the Gold Coast alone you guys and Scotty have a great range of sups and can pretty much put anybody on a multitude of brands and shapes and sizes and you both have great opportunities to educate the prospective and current sup customer in what is out in the market place. I have even heard Scott tell people at a demo session to go to you guys and try other brands and compare what they have ridden with him to the type of boards that you sell before they make a decision and I am sure that you guys would do the same - that is just awesome and shows that you are all doing the right thing by the customer and the sport as a whole. Please do not feel that I am having a dig at any of you - I reckon you are all doing a great job in a really tough market.

I have personally ridden nearly all of the PSH range and would look more at the PSH 9'2/10' over the OXbow.

PSH have great after sales service from AA/Jacko and the quality is up there.

Research Blane Chambers on the net and find outout what each board is designed to do.

As other before said demo the ones you like if possible to compare.
