I seems that everyone that has an Ace, never really wants to part with it...

In which condition are riders feeling that their allstar is faster than their ace? Going off the wind, the Ace feels fast.

Ha.. Yes but I didn't get my hair wet.. and no ice-cream headache..

I don't recommend grabbing the board as you fall like I did because it's very easy to do rib or shoulder damage to yourself.. or even damage the board.. You should always jump away from the board.

I do recommend remounting ASAP (like I did) when you do fall on a downwinder because it only takes a few seconds mucking around or resting and those few seconds can put you hundreds of meters behind your friends that you're paddling with.. It's not a race but it's always good to try and keep together if possible.

Re the Ace question.. In those very light DW conditions we had to work very hard to get the odd runner.. The Ace loves those conditions.. But even though the Ace is faster it feels like your standing in a boat rather than standing on a board.. But as Jerry Seinfeld would say.. Not that there's anything wrong with that..

On the 2014 All Star, you wouldn't even regard them as footwells. The standing area is completely flat and just has a gentle rise at the edge, which is much more rounded than the square edges of the 2013 All Star.

In our bay conditions, 10-20 knots downwind has the Ace faster, but above that and the All Star is the better option. As DJ suggests, the All Star is always more comfortable and fun, but at the lower end, say around 10-15 knots, the Ace is just about the only board that still regards those conditions as downwind and allows you to catch bumps.

14 to 15 degrees water temp, Christ DJ that would kill us Queenslanders.

We don't even get air temperatures like that in winter.

Water warmer than the air from now on in the mornings here.
Both much the same at the moment.
