They were banging on my door all night. I finally decided to let them out. Try the veal. I'll be here all week.

Yep there has been lots or discussion on the radio about the beach sand pumping to half moon bay, the sand used has been described as road base compaction grit similiar in colour ,to the yellow brickies sand which when placed against the existing white soft sand Will be a little out of place ,over $500,000 spent seems alot of money to spend when the beach was perfect anyway I guess that's where experts at the various government dept's show their wisdom I think it will be a hotly discussed topic over the next few weeks amongst council and residents

Mike, with a Bayside council permit pending for the Great Melbourne Paddle, all I said was how awesome the development is and how wonderful of the council to make such improvements. What am I? A marine biologist?

Actually, a quick and dirty way is;

1) Set an iPhone to Movie mode
2) Re-play "PT Woody" on TV, and record on iPhone
3) Email the short movie to yourself
4) Upload short movie onto Youtube or similar.

the news tonight has suggested the "new beach work" at half moon bay Black Rock has been suspended immediately until test are conducted on the new sand/orange quarry soil for contaminants, one report said traces of arsenic has been found.
The tonnes and tonnes of sand has been brought from a quarry in gippsland somewhere and now cover the once perfect beach and half the public car park.
Whilst the concept of beach expansion may have credit, I wonder whose idea it was to truck in 100 b double plus trailor full of orange quarry soil.
I saw some young families on the beach the other day, the kids skin, clothes and towels were all orange in colour, similiar to brickies sand.
Its turning into a public outcry not seen since the inception of um er ar SUP boards....

How can they screw up so much. Did they bother to take a look at the beach and the quality of sand before they ordered that crap? We may not have the greatest beaches in the bay, but black rock would have to one of the best spots to enjoy, no mater what your in to. Let's hope they sort it out quickly before the next big south westerly blows in or we get another big rain squal.

So in the meantime what happens? Giant mounds of it on the beach while "they" make up their minds? Trucks full were still queueing in the top carpark late this arvo.

The argument from DSE for using the coarse quarry sand was that "...it's heavier and less likely to be washed away..."

its turning out to be a monumental f---kup and will most probably end up trying to be swept up under the bureaucracy carpet, if they can find a carpet big enough to cover half moon bay,
gotta love the Dept's response, " well the works are a precautionary measure, just in case the erosion ruins the beach"
I'll rest my case your Honour.

It's sad and also kind of ironic to see an essentially green department bugger up the environment like this. Checking the quality of the sand and making sure it doesn't have poison in it seems to be a pretty necessary precaution, especially when you're dealing with what amounts to a children's playground.
