I've been out all day these last few days of over 40 deg heat and I've been getting a bit sweaty on the paddle...and slipping a bit with the lower hand.

I've been thinking about a paddle grip for a while now and because that stick on C4 type grip is not available here so I thought I would try this.

I picked it up at the bicycle shop and it's for protecting the chain-stays of a mountain bike frame from chain slap that causes frame and paint damage.

It was a perfect fit on my Kialoa paddle..It's tappered..and it's nice and thin..It's also light weight and very grippy.

It's a tight fit but if you put it on up near the handle and then slide it down the the right position I've found that it does not move...and feels pretty good.

It uses velcro but the velcro strip is along the back of the paddle and not really noticeable.. I paddled all day today with it and I like it.

you could also use the wrap around grip that road cyclists use with a bit of gaffer tape top and bottom

Fits like a glove - good find. Let us know if absorbs water and adds weight when it gets dunked.

They are usually neoprene, so no more than a wetsuit

Yeah.. It's like a neoprene (wet suit material) and doesn't seem to absorb much (if any) water.

I like the way it can be put on or removed in seconds...Unlike gluing or sticking something on.

Nearly every bike shop will stock these in one form or another.

I would hazard a guess that the Specialized one wouldn't be the cheapest out there, we used to get them for our DH bikes.

I bought mine from a bike shop just up the road from SHQ.. About half way along Hampton (I think) shops.. Near the Safeway supermarket.

For some reason everytime I hear the word Safeway (we dont have Safeway in WA) it reminds me of a joke...
Q How do you fit an Elephant down an alleyway?
A Take the 'a' out of 'alley' and the 'f' out of 'way'
