Just a quick one – looking for tips! I snapped my paddle shaft on the weekend and have decided to try to fix it myself. I’ve already used 3 layers of glass sheet (sorry I have no idea of specific terminology) with each layer a slightly different width to try to alleviate a really strong section. So it’s 3 layers on the break, then two then one. I used a technique that I’ve read about on Seabreeze – a plastic bag to compress the resin and fibre. I wrapped the repair in a thick bag then tapped it up with a good amount of pressure. This worked well as the glass set well with no air bubbles.
The only problem is that the top of the shaft has a lot less resin than the bottom (obviously talking about when the shaft is parallel to the ground). I could almost do with sanding the bottom half and doing a thin coat of resin over the whole repair but I have no idea how to do this without the same problem happening again – basically the resin runs to the bottom!
Is there any way to combat this or do I just have to live with it and sand it again?
Thanks for any help!

Mate just resleve it. Depends on what paddle you have but try and get a Kiaola shaft of cut which your local should have if they sell them, and because those shafts are smaller than most they fit inside most others and it works a treat use some 5 min araldite and done back on the water in 10 mins.
need any help just ask away

Cheers Paul.
I actually have a Kiaola and have already glassed it. if it fails thanks to my ineptitude with glassing then I could always re-sleeve it!!
Thanks
