Hey guys.

First time user of this forum.

I read an old thread where people from the Illawarra were getting together and paddling Mullet Creek in Dapto.

I am from that area and would love to cruise up and down Mullet Creek however I have an Inflatable SUP and I'm concerned about underwater snags that may puncture my board.

Anyone paddled there often and can tell me if I have anything to worry about?

Cheers,
Bats.

Do you need to have a mullet to paddle that creek..

I wouldn't worry about hearing a pop sound..

Welcome to the breeze.

Mullets optional. However, after big rains the creek can get a bit dirty and the snags in that creek do exist.......
The lake itself is nice for paddling and Windang is a good place to start.

Things must have changed down that way.

I lived in Unanderaa when I was a boy, in the sixties. We were banned from swimming in Mullet Ck due to the filth of the place. Lake Illawarra wasn't much better.

I am glad to hear that improvements have been made.

Enjoy.

Hi,

Have been on a paddle up to the entrance and back on Mullet Creek and its actually not a bad paddle. If you've got polarised glasses you'll see the snags or branches. I probably wouldn't after all the rain cause the water will be extremely dirty and visibility not great. Probably a few weeks before its right again.
Hubby and I have just joined a club that's recently started....Shellharbour Lake Illawarra Stand Up Paddleboarders or SLiSUP for short :)

www.facebook.com/groups/SliSUP/

Having a paddle out on the lake tomorrow morning at 7.30am if interested.

Cheers
