If paddling a board on flat water with feet parallel and the board turns say 30deg after only 2 strokes what does this mean? Fins, rocker, contour? Sound strange?
It's called yawing.. Lots of things can effect it.. What board and fin size is it?
Try standing more forward on the board and keep the paddle more vertical as you paddle.. Also paddle with shorter strokes (try not to paddle too much past your feet) while keeping more weight on the same rail side that you are paddling on.
I paddled a friends 9'4" board today and it ran straight as an arrow when I paddled correctly. However, when I stepped back a full step and paddled in an arc out of the vertical, it turned on the spot. Positioning and paddle technique are the easiest variables to change when you are on the water. If it's the Icon, you're paddling, are you running it as a quad or thruster. I've paddled it as both, but for straight line, put the big centre fin in and put it as far back as possible. Smaller boards are a blast in flat water as well as the surf. They make you work harder on balance and technique.
