Any problems with pollution, wildlife or authorities when paddling around the CBD in Melb.? Im thinking of sailing up from Geelong during the school hols. going to bring the board and have a paddle around just for the fun of it....
There is a bit of a current but nothing significant. I suggest you stick to the river and hang a right under the Bolte Bridge into Victoria Harbour. Don't go further into the docks precinct.
Yeah probably staying nearby to Stadium area. Not wanting to be a security threat on a SUP, that would be big news. The wildlife are probably on the banks lol.
It looks real nice in there...I've been doing a bit of paddling on the Maribynong and have been thinking of doing a big paddle out to the end and hooking a left for docklands...

Haven't ever cruised the Maribyrnong. Must give it a go some day soon.
I paddle up there quite regularly. It's magnificient. Best to swear booties or footwear though, IMO. Marine Safety cruise though regularly on their boat but they just give you a wave as they go past.
Mick I dont have a waterproof camera, so risky...but will try to. I wasnt planning on a lifejacket, is it necessary? if so i have an inflatable pfd1. Yes on the booties, they are for grip right (wink wink) nothing to do with the cold.
