I've got a white gath helmet that I'm thinking of customizing a little.
Any ideas on what sort of paint would be best.
Spending hours on the artwork just to see it peel off after the first surf would be annoying.
By the way, any suggestions on the artwork?
Hair and ears no!

You could try Acrylic Auto paint. You get it spray cans from an Auto shop.

Make sure you sand it well - beforehand - with about 180 grit and finish with a clear coat.

Painted as suggested by Mr Goatman.
It came up a treat. A little pinstriping here and there and stupid never looked so good.

Hey JB,

I painted Kristiana's helmet Pink a few (3) years ago. Just because it had to be PINK I am sure you understand lol. Pink board, pink wet suite, pink paddle and music well she listens to PINK PMSL.

All I did was use 120 grit to rough it up, then there is a grey plastic etch primer in a can you can buy from Supa Cheap Auto. This bites into the plastic and becomes a base for the top coat. It is used for painting plastic car bumpers.

Then you paint over the etch primer and it lasts for ever, well i finally recoated it this year!

Ok,

Here is a picture of the finished product. As you can see, my custom made Kiakaha paddle was the inspiration for the colour and pattern. Missus shouldn't be able to lose me in the surf now (try as she might!).

Was just discussing SUP related head injuries with someone today. Is Gath still the way to go?
I'd take yours Mike but think my melon is too gross for a medium.
Reminds me of the newspaper headline following the prison escape of the dwarf clairvoyant bank robber ...."Small medium at Large"" boom boom tssshhhh
