I know its a fair way off, but is anyone keen to do a downwinder next sunday arvo? Good training for the rotto race and at this early stage, the conditions look good.

I'm sailing on Sunday arvo bugger.
If you want to give the Glide or Qblade a go Stewart or Adam give me a call.

Cheers Luke. I've got a borrowed Starboard pin at home that I'm hoping to try in the wind and chop before January's race.

Cool, How have you found the "pin" so far. Looking forward to your feed back on it once youve been out on the ocean in a decent breeze.
You going to do the Scarbs /Hillarys run again?

Haven't made any plans on where to go, just seeing if anyone is keen and available at this stage.
I've had a couple of paddles up and down the coast but only in flat water and off shore wind. Paddling with cross wind I found really difficult as it kept pushing the nose down wind. I tried standing further forward to keep the nose down but still found it tough. I really need to try it in down wind conditions before deciding if its suitable for the rotto race.

Hi Luke

Thanks for the offer. I actually just put in a order for a 12' glide so I might be paddling mine Sunday.

Come on Stew.
Youve got to do the Rotto race now.
Theyve shortened it to Scarbs instead of Hillarys now.
Besides we're one all in the race stakes.

I was thinking around 2ish and has yet haven't thought about where to where.
I'm without a computer at the moment I'll give Stewart and Cam a call in the next day or so, so maybe one of them may be able to post the details of exactly where and when.

You blokes should have done a downwinder today
It would have taken you 5 minutes from Trigg to Hillarys
I went out at Metts and was smoking on the 4m sail

I've made the final decision and sold the last of the windsurfing gear. It wasn't getting used and was a waste of space sitting in the garage. Selling it funded a new paddle so all's good.
Let me know next time you're going down to metts and I'll come down and get some pics.

Just had a chat with Stewart (SF66) and thought we might paddle from Port Beach up to North Cott or Swanbourne. We thought about leaving from Port Beach at around 2pm so meeting at the end around 1:30ish to drop off a car. Anyone else want to come along?
Does anyone know how far Port Beach to Swanbourne would be?

Did Port beach to Scarb's on Tuesday arvo, was 16km, good fun in the wind, lot's of runners in some spots. To Swanbourne would be about 6km. Choose a spot to finish where the distance to the car is smallest I reckon, I would prefer to do an extra 1km downwind to save an extra 100m carrying the board.

Sounds good. I paddled from Port last night, you can follow the groyne out to get a bit of distance then downwind.....really windy and fun.
You can park on the side of the road right up next to the groyne to save the walk.
At this stage I'll meet you guys there at 1.30pm.

Adding to my "downwind for lazy bastards" theme, a good spot to end a run is at the Marmion Angling Club. You can park just metres from the water here, not sure if they like you using their carpark but hey they can't hog the primo real estate.

Is 6km far enough to paddle? Or do you think is we are going to go to the trouble of doing a paddle like this we should go a bit further? Perhaps port beach to Floreat or city beach, or even scarbs?
Stewart, DeeJay what do you think?

I am all for going a little bit extra and heading to Floreat. If we are going to make an effort may as well make it a decent one.

I know some are keen to finish up at around Swanbourne. Perhaps if we meet at Port Beach near the cafe we can then work out where to finish and drop off the cars up the coast.

So shall we meet at the port beach cafe at 1:30?
I may be a couple of minutes late as I have a family do in the morning.
Hopefully there is some wind, each time I look at the forecast its a little less. I should stop checking!
