I'm new Stand up paddle, but a long time surfer and if anyone is keen to hit the outer reefs of Hillarys (once we get some swell) or maybe even hunt some waves over at Rotto let me know

Keen.

But be warned the paddle out to Seal Island is a long one. Done it a couple of times and the water police chat you about having a PFD.

Done the Alki from a boat much more civilised.

I've got a 7m boat so I wouldn't be paddling that far, but there are some other reefs along that stretch that have some potential, on a short board they're a bit fat but on a sup they'd be ideal.

Checked out along the back of Garden island last year. Pretty gnarly apart from a few shorys at the south end. Five fathom bank may be worth a look when the tides low and the swells up. Just have to keep an eye out for the local great white.

Ive SUPed some of the bombies just to the north of the main 3mile break.. They can be really fun on about 2.5m swell or plus.. Plenty of size and you can park the boat pretty close too.. On 2.5 or plus there is so many bombies out there that are good im surprised not that many people surf them.. I spose its because like you said most are a bit fat for short board or bodyboard..

If im not working which i normally am (sunday only day off) i would love to give a few more a go..

Extreme sarcasm?

I know I'd be keen once my back is sorted - bring on the winter swell

i went with gazza once and we scored a really bloody long left near XXXXXXXX......

Whoops! Yeah, it does seem to be one reason why you might want to have a boat.... instead of 2 more SUBs, a complete new windsurfing rig, and possibly a trip to Indo every year. Choices, choices.
