Today we had a beautiful day here in Melbourne and a few of us paddled the Cerberus course in preparation for next Sunday's event.

I had my new Naish 17.

Oliver, Cam and Jonathan and his son also came along.

There was no wind and it was warm and sunny.

The water had that swimming pool look about it.

Cam thought he'd try Jonathan's 14' Pene.

Within seconds he was off into the distance.

Once we go up to Half Moon Bay Cam had a go on my Naish 17.

While Cam was off on my board I noticed all these yellow skid marks on the tail of his 12' 6" Starboard Pin.. I wonder how they got there... Matty???? ...

We then paddled around the sinking Cerberus.

We bumped into a few other Breezer's on the water.. First Alan and a friend.. and then Phil and his kids.

Phil paddles past saying a family that sup's together stays together.

It wont be long now and the Cerberus will be gone.

Oliver on his way paddling back checks out these funny little sit down things.

Back to where the Cerberus event will start from.

After lunch I paddle through the afternoon and was still on the water as the sun went down.

This is St Kilda tonight as the sun slipped down behind St Kilda Pier Kiosk.

That last pic is a beauty DJ.

I have heard 3 different distances for the Cerberus race any ideas what the true distance is?

As a fast and stable board I think the new Starboard 12'6" Pin is the best out there right now.. IMO.

The reason I like the 12' Naish Glide more is not because it's a Naish but because it can also be used in the surf and when on down-winders it jumps on the plane because it's a planing shape hull.. even though the Pin is a faster board in non planing conditions.

I think if I lived on a river or lake I'd have a Pin for sure.. I have heard there are a few new Naish boards coming that should be similar or better than the Pin in non planing performance.. But then Starboard have some interesting boards coming also..

G'ay DJ,
great photos especially of my family of suppers ginger, taylor and me mj, had all the family out that day, shame the boards cost so much, got 3 of them, together with a quiver of about 8 surfboards and a couple of collectables but I am running out of space, hardly get on the boards now, it is just fantastic to see the kids embrace the sport, and by the way well done on your innovation with regard to the coiled dj sup legrope, it a cracker. mj

Love that shot of the Naish yellow streaks all over the back of Cam's Pin. But in fairness, Cam probably gave Lummers' Glide a few new GT stripes too. Just that the white on white is more subtle.

very interesting to see the pen 14 again as i get to see dc 16's a bit. they still go great. when the 16 gets on a runner, it really goesssssss. what strikes me is the move towards larger volume boards of recent times. the pen and dc16's aren't that old. anyone else have any thoughts

Outstanding photos DJ!
Cerebrus wreck looks interesting, just googled it and found out it was a warship launched in 1868. Amazing that there is anything left at all.

Helkie and I paddled to the Cerberus a while ago and I took some pics.

Soon after posting them I removed them because we made to front cover of the local news paper for trespassing in a restricted area.. We didn't know.

Here's some of the pics. You can see how much it's sunk since then.
