Check out Ikaika Kalama charging pipe, pigdogging on a short board with style.

Then charges it on his sub.

Copped a pounding as well when he couldnt get to the bottom quick enough on the big board http://www.surfline.com/video/featured-clips/pipeline-opening-day-2009_30858

I wished they showed him paddling out, that would have been more impressive than the wave.

Amazing stuff, that is some of the gnarliest pipe footage I have seen, then to ride it on a SUP, wow!

The paddle out is actually not that hard if you time it. The swells get drawn towards the main reef and the lulls between sets is usually pretty big - the one time I was there anyways.

The opposite when I have been there, the mass of incoming water was trying to find a way back out and was racing past off the wall and pipe and onto pupukea and a massive rip. You had to get in the water at off the wall and try and get out between pipe and ehukia. I can't imagine paddling out against the current let alone the incoming surf.

Probably depends on swell direction. It was big the day I saw/surfed it - not quite as big as that footage though.
