Thanks, I see the vivoactive Original and the vivoactive hr have the same specs apart from the heart rate sensor on the hr.
And of course different shape.

Don't think I need a hr sensor so could save a fair bit and get the original vivoactive

All good rang garmin.. no the original won't have a sup profile

Only the vivoactive hr , all good got the wife one

Now I want the fenix 3
Now do you go to the expense of the hr which I think is saphire
Or the original fenix 3 no HR built in
I'm not that sure the HR is that much use ??

Don't think so, I just use the Canoeing one for stand up paddling as action and speed are pretty similar.

Correct it does not, however you can use other apps to do distance stroke etc but it's not anywhere near the same info of precise .
So the vivofit hr is the only option just a shame the changed the shape IMHO it looks like crap but if you want sup it's the only upper end option I think.
Same as garmin 920xt it can do the reading but not in the same way or as precise as the didicated app of the vivoactive hr .. so I'm told

I bought the fenix 3 for SUP because the Viviactive uses a touch screen and that could be a problem in the wet and if you wear gloves. The fenix does it all with buttons and is more robust. The SUP setting seems to count average strokes per minute pretty accurately for me. One thing it doesn't do well though is count the sets of steps you've climbed, but that's another story.

Got the Vivioavtive and purchased an optional heart strap as the wrist based hr not accurate enough for my medical situation.
I liked the fact that it is self contained and didn't need a cell phone. Touch screen was not an issue so far, I just set it and forget it.
