The other day I was having my first surf for 2014 with a couple of friends.. Filming some great moments with my GoPro on my paddle.. and when it came time to leave because (I needed to get to work) I unclipped my camera from my paddle and tried to put it in my boardies pocket.. and dropped it.

I jumped in thinking it was waist deep and I went in over my head.. (It was high tide).. By the time I got my sunnies and hat off and dived for it I had driffted past the drop point.. It was a mix of sand, rock and seaweed on the bottom.. All three of us searched for ages till I said that's it.. I have to go or I'll be late for work.. (it was mid afternoon).. I was not happy about loosing another GoPro after having one come off once on a downwinder.. The worst thing was loosing the footage that I had shot that day on it.

I borrowed a friends mask and snorkel and got up early the next day and drove the hour and a half to get there thinking you never know.. and at least I will be happy knowing that I tried to find it at low tide.. I searched for about an hour and was about to give up when a young local surfer walked up and said are you looking for this.. In his hand was my GoPro.. He had found it in the late afternoon the day before at low tide.

His name is James.. and you can see him playing with my camera at his campsite with his mates in my vid.. His mates will probably tell him he was an idiot handing it over and that he could have got good money selling it.. Isn't it nice to know that there are still good people out there... Here's my vid from that day and shows the moment my GoPro sank.

Great stuff DJ & always good to hear there's still a bunch of nice honest people around!!! I was stoked when a similar thing happened after I lost my Sony ActionCam last year - I didn't manage to get back to the place I lost it the following day, but the guy who found it took the card out and tracked me down from looking at the footage.

Looking forward to the vid when you finish it :)

That was really cool DJ.
Story was great, but the footage was fantastic. One of my favorites of yours now for me. It's a complete video - great footage, creative angles and a top story and definite end.
Well done
