Hi there,
Moving from Hokua 9'6" Quad to Hokua 8'5" Thruster (having a big fin at the back) I felt unstable and therefore I very quickly changed the fin configuration to Quad.
While I felt wonderful with the Thruster on the wave, it was almost impossible to stand still, or to move in a straight line.
I am about 160 lbs.
Should I switch back to Thruster? Was it just a matter of time until I get used to a three-fin configuration?
Any tips for a special Christmas configuration ;-)

Set your centre fin back for a bit more stability and then move it forward to your preferred spot over time. I know what your going through as I recently bought the 8'5" Hokua as well. (Yes Lacey, another naish). The learning curve starts again but it is awesome on a wave. I am 83kg (183 pound).
