Quick question, is there any penalty on the run start to enter the water first landing prone then getting to your feet? Or is it compulsory to land on your feet straight away?

There is a rule to say you can't take more than 5 paddle strokes on your knees, and although I don't think it specifically says so, this should by rights be the same for prone paddling with your hands. But there has never been a rule to say you can't kneel or lie on the board without paddling for any amount of time.

Hi Mate, it is not compulsory to jump to your feet straight away, as long as your not paddling with your arms while your in the prone position it is fine to start like that.

Cheers
