After getting a Naish nalu 11'6" and absolutely loving it in flat water and ocean I tried out a new Fanatic Fly 12'6" race today.
Geez, how different. Very different sensation and great fun once I figured how to stop it going in a direction other than where I wanted to go
But for me once I'd perserved and paddled into a 6-8 knot wind for a couple of k's on flat water and then turned it down wind then that was sweet as!!!
Being a newby I guess its all trial and error but hopefully I will able to get the feeling of what all you DW people feel.
Im feelin' like a kid on Xmas morning, oh, thats right it is!!!!!!!

Great stuff !! That 12'6 is nice. There's some boards in the 14 to 18 foot range that are even faster ! LSD Dean even has a 20 footer. (not LSD as in Luke Short Designs. I think he's tied in with Stand Sure and Simon Anderson. Speaking of which, I thought Simon was keen on bringing out an Ocean Racer ??? ).

Hey Mate,

Heading into or across the wind on the 12'6 fanatic just go a little further forward to get the bow down and use the sharp deep bow as a nose fin to hold direction. Seems to work well from what we have experienced.

Hi Mate,

Wait til you get out on a smoking 30knots day with some swell! Your paddling goes to another whole other level, you'll love it. 12'6, 14ft or unlimited get out there and have fun.
