Hi all, does anyone know where I can get "Rail Tape" locally? I could order it online, but prefer to support the local SUP retailers in any small way.

My 2 cents-just use gaffer tape-colour to match rail-cheap-effective-easy to apply and remove and it won't cut you like the clear rail tape. Also 2 or 3 wraps of electrical tape on your paddle blade edge.

Agree with loco, I think I use the same thing but call it cloth tape - coloured 50mm wide waterproof cloth tape from Bunnings. I just go one layer of electrical tape on the paddle edge but have to replace it every few months - make sure you use a good quality electrical tape like Nitto.

There is a yellow cloth tape that is exactly Naish Yellow

PT. Bunnings sell an All Weather Proof clear tape. (Norton Brand) Its not as thick as the 3M Rail Tape but still as effective. About $16 for a 50mt roll.

3M make a clear duct tape that works well. Another option is to use chip protection tape that you can get from your local auto store. It is thicker and therefore provides more protection.

C4 have a plastic edging that sticks real well to your paddle blade. Fit that and dont worry about the rail tape

I wouldn't stick anything on the side of my board. I'd put two layers of quality electrical tape around your paddle edge and then get out of the habit of hitting your board with the paddle. Your Naish is pretty tough and shouldn't suffer from rail chips in the same way as some of the other boards did some years ago.

I agree for boards that only I'm going to use Oliver, but half the fun is lending gear to other people and there are some real rail whackers out there. It's so nice to be able to lend to a friend or beginner and hear the dull thud of paddle on cloth tape.

yep don't feel as bad when freinds are waving the paddle around. i have gone the paddle guard and no rail tape which works well.

I can't believe how exactly the colour matches Naish yellow. Great tip, thanks.
