Hello all, I've just bought my shortest board being a bam bam in the Simmons type shape and hoping to put some rail tape on, more to protect the board more from standing, resting against truck etc than paddling. Since the board is so short I was hoping to go right up to the nose also to protect from any collisions with any other others or the bottom. Am I wishful thinking hoping to get around the nose curve as well as rocker rise with the tape? As the nose area is thinner I was thinking of cutting it down narrower to assist with getting around the curves. Or is it easier to stop on a square edge, cut the right angle to match, butt up against it and keep going to get around the curve?
Am I simply dreaming or has anybody managed to make it work? As usual, any wisdom is greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Should work ok.. Maybe streatch it around the curves like you do on a paddle blade.

DJ, Rail Saver pro in the clear jumbo, due to the thickness of the board and large rails. I'm guessing the top side will be the problem due to curving back towards it. That's why I was thinking of narrowing it up at the curviest part. I didn't think it had much stretch in it?

Hi yt04,

The 3M tape will stretch around the rocker curve on the nose, no problem. Just go slowly.

You've made the right choice with the RSPro. It likes a bit of warmth so use a hair dryer to heat it up before/during application, it makes going around curves a piece of cake. Also spraying water on both surfaces will make it easy to re-align if you make a mistake. Just wait 24 hours before going in the water.

Thanks joffadan, I never knew it liked heat and DJ as I didn't know it would stretch. I've had the tape for a month now and the board for a couple of weeks but haven't been game to give it whirl. I've put it on the board trying to place it but thought the curves would stuff me as it wouldn't lie right hence the post. Just have to pinch the wives hair dryer when she's not looking and give it a crack. I've put some ion tape on my evoke and it went on easy as and looks great but the wider rspro was freaking me out just trying to line it up. Thanks as always gents.

Hi Australian SUP Community —

Seabreeze always has some interesting SUP stories I like to keep up to speed on. I came across similar topics & just wanted to clarify on some confusion that seems to be going on in the Australian marketplace. I founded both Puka Patch & Rail Saver Pro, a Puka Patch product.

Despite what some might hear, Puka Patch is Rail Saver Pro & is why we have kept the name whilst the other like-branded name has since been changed to RS Pro…

I hope this helps with the confusion & integrity of the original Rail Saver Pro, a product that has been widely accepted through the Australian marketplace, launched many years ago by my Australian distributor Watershack Pty Ltd. On the subject of Jimmy Lewis -

Jimmy has been a supporter of our product since the beginning & still supports the Puka Patch Rail Saver Pro exclusively to this day.

The pictures posted in these forums stating Jimmy apparently switching to RSPro were from one of Jimmy’s international distributors without the support of Jimmy himself.

There’s a saying in the innovation world that the greatest form of flattery is when someone copies you, so I guess for many years now we’ve been doing something right by providing a quality product that continues to evolve. Confusing a market by copying your name to build another product is not flattery & definitely not innovative.

If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact my Australian distributor : [email protected]

Thanks, Jon Mosher - Puka Patch & Rail Saver Pro

I gotta tell you, as a marketer, that kind of cut and paste post really doesn't work. Just get's people's BS detector chiming.
