Hi, we are looking at buying a SUP for the family to use. Specifically looking at the best size and what you think would work for mum dad and kids for new starters. Thanks

I recently picked up a 2nd hand NSP for exactly this task. It gets all my friends out on a board, including kids and they are tough so can take a bit of a beating. The grip deck being all the way to the nose of the board adds to usability.

And it would easily end up as a board I will keep, even as my more performance oriented boards come and go.

For mine, considering the price and use of the board something along these lines would be pretty hard to go past.

10 to 12 foot long 30 to 34 inches wide depending on your weight. The lighter the better but more expensive.

For just paddling inflatable maybe the go.

Go to a couple of sup shops and demo a few. Not sure where you are but good shops all over. Secondhand good brand is better than a cheap no name from a big chain usually.

hi mate
just try and pick up a decent second hand board, so that way you can get the idea of suping and it wont set you back a whole lot, more money towards your second board, plus it doen't matter to much if it gets dinged etc

Exactly what I would say. NSP indestructible, resellable. Get hooked then go custom!

Thanks for the suggestions and ideas. It's going to be a gift that we can all use so was thinking of getting a new board if I can find something suitable for the entire family. Someone suggested sunny king boards? Any thoughts on those ones.

I agree with the NSP but there are a few sizes to choose from.. I think you will find the 11' NSP perfect.

There's nothing wrong with Sunny King.. I'm guessing the NSP will have better resale value and most local shops sell NSP.
