Most varieties of that clear stuff are pretty fierce, the adhesive will take paint with it if you're not super careful. I've had some success with (careful) application of lowish heat from a hair dryer to soften the adhesive, then something like eucalyptus, WD40 or simple green to remove any adhesive residue.

You might think this is a joke, I assure you it's not. Aerogard. It's the best glue, bat poo, felt pen off ya car or coffee table remover there is.

Try the Aerogard, you'll be blown away at what it cleans.

Ha haha try it, it really works. Not sure what the ingredient is that cleans stuff but it is in all insect repellents. Doesn't even have to be real Aerogard.

cleaning adhesive - prepsol? just try it on a small area first, but doesn't soften 'most' paints. As for aeroguard...mortein, crc, wd40, bug-off and many aerosol can products will clean adhesive I found through trying products to clean off contact adhesive...must be some good stuff in those cans!

Yeah I have prepsol, Citrus based cleaner, turps etc. Funny thing is Aerogard just seems to turn glue and bat poo for that matter into jelly almost immediately. My 5y.o drew on the expensive coffee table with a black felt tip. No panic, grabbed the Aerogard and it came straight off.

A friend told me he cleaned a whole texta pen graffiti tag from his work van in an instant as well.

You heard it right here. Insect repellant is the Shizz for cleaning stuff. And yeah, bugs dont like it much either.

I reckon I've limited my lifespan by washing my hands in...paint thinners! Did it for many years, nearly every day.

Used to do alot of 2-pack polyester & polyurethane painting (kitchen joinery). Finished in spray booth, washed hands in thinners & then soap - purely DUMB! Also did a lot of MDF work, and although limited the amount of dust inhaled, the handkerchief wasn't a pretty sight at the end of a day.

As you get older you start to realise how many stupid & life-shortening things you've done - including mb stunts, handyman-style electrical work, chemicals inhaled etc.

Sailhack, I agree, having worked in the Building Industry for a long time, can't help but think of all those chemicals, dusts etc we have been exposed to whilst working for example treated pine fences, and playground equipment,.. soaked in arsenic, great idea for the playgrounds!, talk about naive, MDF, the glues are banned everywhere in the world, what about the two pack floor coats the toxic smell, can't help but think we are all guinea pigs to the corporations, my folks had a beach house a Lorne built in the early 60's everything asbestos, roof, wall cladding even floor tiles.
In some ways we have comes so far with awareness of toxicity in products on site and how to deal with them but then again, what about foods, clothes, cars and all the other stuff, my folks both died of cancer, with Authorities attitudes the way they are, its no wonder cancer is the biggest killer.
sorry it sounds depressing.... at least surfing is good for us
