Melbourne turned on a shocker for Ryan's final leg of his epic journey - 37 degrees and a 30 knot headwind into the heart of the city. A crew of SUP VIC's finest turned out to accompany him. Here are some snaps...

In this photo, Dogman almost created an international incident - what appeared to be a crew of American merchant sailors on shore leave enjoying a nice morning of fishing and a few beers. Dogman offered to trade a Caramello Koala for a beer. They agreed. Dogman got his beer. I'm not sure they understood what a Caramello Koala was when it was offered but by the look on their faces, they seemed very disappointed that it didn't involve some kind of happy ending.

Good work PT,

It does make that 25 to 30knot head wind look like a mill pond.

Well done Ryan, you have inspired so many people to get out on the water to get fit and healthy.

I would be happy to paddle with you any day!

Cheers....

Nah - that's good ol' dj.

Amazing effort Ryan, the photos don't do the conditions today justice. It must have been extremely hard work coming into the bay with 30kn head winds, especially on your last leg.

I understand you paddled from the GC down here - that's really an amazing effort.

When are you, Jamie or someone else going to do the 'big' paddle from the mainland to Tassie. That's got to be dooable, given you paddled qld to vico in a few weeks.

Ryan is the one with the blue and grey board and he is wearing the striped shorts.

And yes, mainland to tassie is on the cards to be done in the near future.

Hey DJ, did you get some video out of your DW yesterday? Looking forward to seeing Dogman sneaking up behind you and paddling your arse and nearly knocking you in knocking you in.

Every time the camera contraption comes out from now on, I suspect DJ may be in for a paddy whack!

I understand he paddled around 80ks a day? did he have a support boat , or just out there on his own? Unreal he must be absolutley knackered Make sure you recover well , i had a guy i used to work with who done 13 coolie golds back to back each week , and he ended up with chronic fatigue from the strain on his body.

No support boat.. Just family following on land.. I reckon he'll sleep for a week.

I think the only time Ryan had a support boat for the whole journey was when Port of Melbourne Authority insisted on providing one to escort him through the shipping channel at the top of the bay coming in to the Melbourne docks. Probably a fair call as two monstrous cargo ships passed by within 50 metres.

Absolute privilege to be apart of "Ryan's Last Stand" [ well that's what it felt like at times].

Thanks for the shots PT. Glad your camera didn't malfunction in the heat!
