And generally world wide.

Hmmm. No sure you would call the ace a punters board.

But its success is amazing.

However a lot of paddlers dont want to know about paddling canoes

I dunno, I've been called a punter more than once. Of course, my hearing isn't what it used to be.

Lacey, in Brisbane the most popular board lately is the Allstar. Heaps of them knocking around.

If they still made the Ace in a 27" model, it would be a see of blue. Agree Lacey the 25" is not everyone's cup of tea and I believe is a very technical board to get the most out of it. Yeah a lot of people can stand on it and paddle it, but to truely get the most out of it you need to be pretty nimble and when you feel like you are rocking and rolling all over the place not everyone is happy to move around.

on the West Coast we see a lot of Starboards, DC, Fanatic and SIC in that order.

If people have one board, then they have an Allstar.
The rest would be a mix of Naish Javelins (GX and LE) Starboard Ace, DC (Bayrunner being the pick of course) and then Falcons. In that order

Good question because I am after a new board but it's always going to be difficult to answer, for a start conditions vary so much just in Australia let alone the world.

Weight and skill (or lack of) of paddler also makes a big difference.

Also depends if just talking downwinding or allround paddling, racing.

I see starboard all star around the most in Sth East Qld and in pics on the net around aus and the world... Not sure why as I don't see the board pre 2016 shape as anything good. Maybe it is a good all round flat water/Ocean one board quiver though that punters are drawn to. The non carbon is also cost effective.

Lahui Kai have a good all round race board shape I reckon and if they were stocked in more shops in aus you would see them more. As they come in cheaper than the starboards.

The best board would have to be a custom though as you can take what you like about a few boards and blend it to how you want it.

I may be a little bias, but there's a lot of interest brewing round the new Naish Maliko. Well priced, stable, incredibly fast, includes bag and been giving the ACE a run for it's money in the open water as well as smoking the flatwater boards.

As always, strongly suggest getting onto one for a test paddle.

I quite like the look of this board, but haven't heard to much about it performance wise, I think I saw a photo of Kai Lenny travelling to Hood River with one.
I'm not sure if he used it, but I did see he was a fair way back in the field for what we have come to expect from him.
I don't suppose you know what he was paddling?

Currumbin gold coast area we don see many all stars. Beau obviously . Ali too.

they havent been a good bop board- too flat and if your buying a race board around here you need to be able to surf them.
Mixed bag really dc .lahui. deep. Fanatic. Some bullets around. A few local jms and the odd naish .

Interestingly the atx crew are using their manta boards for bopping as their atx /brian shapes are proving very difficult to use in the surf.

They are fast tho. Very speedy ck boards
